Amid the ongoing LPG supply concerns in West Bengal, officials from the Enforcement Branch conducted surprise inspections at multiple gas warehouses in Kolkata on Friday to review the distribution system. The raids were carried out to assess whether the current supply issues were due to an actual shortage or the result of artificial scarcity.
During the inspections, officers questioned distributors and examined stock levels at several warehouses. After the preliminary inquiry, officials stated that there is currently adequate stock of domestic LPG and that ordinary consumers are unlikely to face major disruptions in household cooking gas supply.
However, authorities noted that the supply of commercial LPG cylinders to hotels and restaurants has been affected and remains under investigation. Officials said a detailed probe is underway to determine the reasons behind the disruption in commercial gas distribution.
